USESRPrograms and ServicesAdoption / Foster HomesYes! We do need volunteers to act as foster 'parents'! Foster caregivers may care for horses according to their skills and abilities. No horse trailer is required, and fostered horses may be boarded at a facility or
kept at the foster care provider's home. Coordinated Efforts With Outside RescuesIt is our policy to assist other rescues in any way we can. If you have your own rescue and think that we can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our headquarters is located very near to both Texas slaughterhouses, Dallas Crown and Bel Tex. In addition to this, we also help individuals form their own rescues. There are several states which still do not have their own rescues. It is our desire here at USESR to see several rescues in every state. The more rescues there are in existence, the better for our beloved friends. We furnish referrals to free web page building for rescues, and referrals to many helpful resources, both on and offline regarding forming a nonprofit organization. Let us all be active. Interested onlookers are nice, but not very helpful to the many, many poor horses who need our help. Disaster Aid / ReliefUSESR plans to have volunteers stationed throughout the state who can assist in the evacuation of horses during times of eminent weather conditions or fire. If you can help during these especially critical times, please contact us. As always, training and materials are supplied by USESR . Education ProgramUSESR is currently organizing a curriculum on the history of the horse in the U.S., including the important roles horses played in the various wars, transportation, settlement back in the Pioneer days, etc. and the Geography of horses. This presentation explains how various breeds of horses came to the U.S. These two programs are thirty- minute presentations for the purpose of lecturing school children and other children's groups. Our goal in implementing this program is to foster an appreciation and interest in horses within the youth of our country. We are currently seeking volunteers who have a couple of hours a month to perform these presentations in their area. MembershipAlthough membership is required to volunteer, members are not required to be volunteers! Message BoardOur message board is a wonderful way to communicate with horse lovers around the world. Numerous topics include: Training, Horses For Sale or Adoption, Auctions, Dressage, Nutrition, Teens on Horseback, Gaited horses, Premarin and more.... NewsletterSubscribe to our newsletter. Project: "Spread The Word"This project is in full swing. While the Internet is extremely useful in spreading the word about horse abuse, neglect, slaughter, and Premarin issues, we recognize the fact that there are still large numbers of the population who still do not have computers. The media is more often than not guilty of glossing over the unpleasant details, in fear of 'turning off' readers. Through the proliferation of our newsletter to the general public, the distribution of informational flyers, and posted notices on veterinary and feed store bulletin boards, USESR is busy 'spreading the word' that horses need our help.
