Foster Care Provider, Public Speaker/Educator and TransportFoster Care ProviderWhen you foster an equine for USESR, you get to choose the kind of equine you prefer. Some Providers need only gentle equine because they have small children around. Some feel qualified to take on even the critical care equine. Whomever you choose, we want you to treat the equine like it is your own. Take it trail riding, enter it in a show, ride in a parade. USESR pays for almost all care except feed and hay. We require safe fences, some shelter aside from trees, and adequate water. Specific requirements are available by calling our toll free number and asking for a Foster Care Packet. Another kind of foster home is the Intake Foster Facility. These Providers must be able to accept at least 5 equine in any condition. Requirements/expectations are much the same, however these providers must own a horse trailer, stock trailer preferred. Feed and hay is paid for by USESR. Intake Providers must take photos, measurements, and make sure the equine is ready to move into permanent foster care. Intake Providers provide a sort of ‘initial’ care facility. Ability to accept a stallion is preferred, but all stallions are gelded prior to entering regular foster care. Public Speaker/EducatorThe Public Speaker/Educator must have the ability and knowledge to speak in front of classrooms, Scouting groups, organizational meetings such as Riding Clubs, on the radio, and at special functions. Travel reimbursements are available up to $50.00. Support via our Research Specialist is available to the volunteer holding this position. TransportStock trailers are preferred but not required. Many rescue equine will not load into a small trailer. Transporters may be called upon to relocate foster equine from one foster home to another or travel long distances to
pick up donated equine. Transporters may charge for gasoline/diesel, but may not make a profit. Travel reimbursements may be available up to $50.00. <-- Previous | Table of Contents | Next --> |
