Campaign Managers, Vice Presidents

Anti-Slaughter Campaign Manager; Anti-PMU Campaign Manager

There’s nothing pretty about horse slaughter (see photo at right). Each year, thousands of equine wind up in one of the two American (Belgian-owned) horse slaughter houses in U.S., both located in Texas. PMU (Pregnant Mare’s Urine) foals, a by-product of the drug industry, end up in slaughter houses also. These two issues, slaughter and PMU, are closely related, but must not be confused as one issue. Each one is so horrible in and of itself, each requires it’s own USESR volunteer to dedicate his/her time to putting a stop to this horror. Currently, USESR is growing so quickly, we do not have the human resources needed to devote sufficient time to either of these urgent problem areas of equine rescue. We need someone who has a passion for seeing these horrors stopped, ASAP! These special volunteers will stay abreast and keep the rescue posted on current happenings, changes, and calls to action on each front, the slaughter industry and the PMU industry. These special volunteers may be called upon to chair a meeting organizing a coordinated effort of USESR volunteers, be it a letter-writing campaign, picketing the slaughter houses, candle light vigil, or educational meeting for other USESR volunteers who share the same passion and dedication to see these legal crimes stopped.

Vice President in Charge of Advertising

Advertising keeps USESR alive and kicking. We must let the public know that we are here in order to help them and the equine they control. To keep the rescue in operation, we must get equine and get equine out (adoption—to make room to rescue more). Advertising is crucial. Do you have a computer program & color printer which will allow you to print flyers? Your duties will include mailing flyers to members who request them so they can post them in their neighborhoods; encourage members to locate small news publications which we can place classified ads in; write classified ads; serve jointly with our marketing director to coordinate advertising and marketing, etc.

Vice President in Charge of Membership

Vice President in charge of Membership will find new ways to recruit members as well as being in charge of assigning interested volunteers to the volunteer duties they specify interest in on their membership forms. Keeping records of all members is not required.
