Introduction

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for USESR . We are a fast-growing equine rescue with Headquarters in Texas. Our sterling reputation and strict ethics policy set us above other organizations throughout our field. We look forward to your fellowship of service as we strive to dedicate ourselves to the humane service of Equine across Texas and throughout the United States.

Persons wishing to volunteer for USESR must be members of our organization. The reasons for this are:

  • We have a strict ethics policy in place to ensure the safety of equine.
  • Many rescues are tainted by ego and the welfare of the equine often takes second place to personal agendas. We have no wish to see this happen to "our" equine.
  • Our policies must be strictly followed in order to ensure the safety of the equine.
  • We have a huge responsibility to our financial donors and those who choose to place their beloved equine with USESR for permanent placement. We take this responsibility most seriously.
  • Our members pay to participate in helping rescue abused, neglected, abandoned, and slaughter-bound equine. They deserve to have honest and ethical persons of leadership in charge of seeing that our policies are adhered to. Requiring membership causes submittal to sanctions against those who would be tempted to sacrifice policy for personal gain.

We are a family of dedicated rescuers who devote our time to going about doing good for equine everywhere. To operate a large organization takes many behind-the-scenes volunteers. Volunteers are the life-blood of our organization; without your help, we would be totally ineffective in perpetuating our organizational goals.

As you look through this publication, please make note of the many ways you can help us help the equine. You may see just one volunteer position which you feel you can fill, or you may see several. In either event, we hope that you will join us and receive the satisfaction of knowing you have made a life and death difference for an equine in need.
